Apple-Cheddar Sausage Balls with Dijon-Balsamic Glaze

How sweet it is! Prepare for a flavor explosion with these saucy sausage balls featuring Jimmy Dean® Maple Flavor Pork Sausage Roll.

Ingredients

  • Sausage Balls
  • 1 pkg. Jimmy Dean® Maple Flavor Pork Sausage Roll
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup dry bread crumbs
  • ½ cup coarsely grated peeled tart baking apple
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten Glaze
  • ½ cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar

Directions

Sausage Balls

1. Mix ingredients just until blended; shape into 36 (1-inch) balls.

2. Place half the balls in large skillet; cook over medium heat 10 minutes or until lightly browned, turning frequently. Remove from skillet; drain. Repeat with remaining balls. Glaze

3. Mix ingredients in small bowl until well blended; pour into skillet. Return sausage balls to skillet; stir until evenly coated. Bring glaze to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Simmer 20-30 minutes or until glaze is slightly thickened and sausage balls are done (160°F).

4. Transfer sausage balls to slow cooker or chafing dish to keep warm. Serve with toothpicks, if desired.

Cook’s Tips It is easiest to mix the ingredients using your hands. Mix just until the dry ingredients are fully incorporated. Sausage balls can be shaped ahead of time and frozen. When ready to serve, thaw in refrigerator before cooking as directed.
