Breakfast
Relive the good old days with this classic recipe. It's made with sautéed apples and sausage and served with brown sugar cinnamon French toast.
Ingredients
- 2 slices Sara Lee Brown Sugar Cinnamon Bread
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
Directions
Directions:
1. Warm olive oil in 8-inch skillet
2. Add shallots and onions, sauté until softened (2 minutes)
3. Add apple and sauté until softened (2–3 minutes)
4. Add sausage to pan
5. Squeeze fresh lemon juice onto mixture
6. Add fresh thyme
7. Add salt and pepper to taste
8. Serve with brown sugar cinnamon French toast
Cinnamon French Toast:
1. Beat egg in a medium bowl
2. Add remaining ingredients except bread
3. Dip bread into egg liquid until coated but not soggy
4. Heat butter in hot skillet
5. Transfer soaked bread to skillet and cook until golden brown—approximately
45 seconds to 1 minute on each side
