Jimmy Dean Maple Sausage and Apple Stuffing

Ingredients:

  1. 2 pkgs. Maple Flavor Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage
  2. 1 cup diced onion
  3. 1-1/2 cups diced celery
  4. 1-1/2 cups (2 medium) Golden Delicious apples, peeled and chopped
  5. 1 teaspoon allspice
  6. 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  7. 1 package (15 oz.) herbed dry bread cubes
  8. 2 cups chicken broth
  9. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  10. 3/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 F. In a large saucepan or stockpot, cook sausage over medium-high heat, stirring frequently until thoroughly cooked and no longer pink. Add onion, celery and apples; cook 10-12 minutes or until onion is translucent, stirring frequently. Transfer mixture to a large bowl; add remaining ingredients and stir well. Pour into a buttered 3 or 4-quart casserole. Bake covered for 50-60 minutes.

Makes 10-12 servings
